Pregnancy Therapy
Since becoming a mother myself, I have become very passionate about providing education and support to expectant and new mothers.
Following the birth of my first child a few years ago, I had almost no education and support about the importance of regaining my strength and body stability after having a baby. I knew I had to do it, but how to do it was a bit of a mystery to me.
Like many who suffer lower back pain, the strain of pregnancy and birth added to an already poor back condition, leading eventually to a stay in hospital. I put this down to my previous condition exacerbated by full-term pregnancy, a long labour and overuse of my back in the incorrect way – bending over to pick my child up and carrying on my hip!
When my second child was born via unplanned caesarean, and having ongoing issues with my back, I had the fortune to be treated by an antenatal Physio. She taught me to strengthen my core safely and how to reduce the risk of further strain on my back. Thanks to her, my back pain was minimised and I was educated on how to strengthen my core without overloading it.
Following this experience I am now qualified in pregnancy massage, and I am able to offer women relaxing full body massages in the second and third trimesters. Pregnancy can be an incredibly exciting time for a parent-to-be. It can also create changes to your body which mean some TLC is very important. I am also developing my professional portfolio to include a number of antenatal and postnatal services to assist you with your needs.
Whether you have lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain and feeling the weight of your growing baby in your stomach, I can offer support through massage, k-taping and advice.
I also support postnatal clients following the birth of their babies – through deep tissue massage, k-taping, advice on diastasis recti and how to adapt your posture and daily routine with your growing baby / children.
