As an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT), my main goal is to assist you to live and not just exist and achieve as much independence as possible in life. Occupational therapy assists people at any stage of life, and no matter what your ailment is it can assist to achieve independence in one way or another.
OT is beneficial for a vast majority of conditions, whether it is mild arthritis, memory impairment or a progressive disease, or a temporary illness with an aim to improve and return to your “norm”. Whether you wish to continue gardening, start a new hobby or achieve the essential things such as personal care and shopping, I can help you with this.
Equipment
Equipment makes up a large portion of supporting clients to safe and effective levels of independence. I can support you with equipment provision for household needs, or more bespoke equipment such as for hand issues.
Rehabilitation
Following a period of illness or severe injury, you may find that you are struggling to carry out your usual daily activities as you could prior to episode of illness. For example, following major surgery (eg hip replacement), fall or acute illness like an infection.
Goal setting is an essential part of rehabilitation back to your baseline of function, which I can support to do over a period of time. It may include equipment on a temporary basis, exercising or even elements of massage to improve pain, strength and range of movement.
Advice / Signposting
At times having the information for other services is enough. Counselling, memory support, podiatry, physiotherapy and more.
